TURKEY VULTURE RECORDS Signs CORE!!! (TURKEY VULTURE RECORDS/BUNGALO RECORDS/UNIVERSAL MUSIC GROUP DISTRIBUTION)

Turkey Vulture Records would like to announce the signing of the rising South Dakota rock band CORE. Both parties are excited in this venture and are very excited in working together. Core will be entering T.V.R. Recording Studios with Turkey Vulture Records label owner and producer Jason Z. for the yet to be titled album which will begin in early 2013 and set for release and distribution through Turkey Vulture Records/Bungalo Records/Universal Music Group Distribution. Jason Z. states “It’s been a roller coaster of emotions throughout the negotiations and signing of this deal due to some line-up changes, but everything is very solid now and we are looking very forward to getting into the studio to begin tracking the new record!!”
CORE is not your average hard rock band. Hailing from South Dakota they are sure to be the next big thing to come out of the Midwest. For fans of Staind, Sevendust and Papa Roach, CORE approach songwriting honestly and are dedicated passionate musicians. This powerhouse quartet provides a tight rhythm section that produces a brutal sound that is balanced by tender yet powerful vocal harmonies reminiscent of Layne Staley. Equal parts heavy riffs and delicate acoustics; CORE’s music is emotionally charged and unique. The band has shared the stage with countless national acts such as SHINEDOWN, SEVENDUST, and BUCKCHERRY just to name a few.
CORE has a devoted and solid national following. The band has performed at numerous shows in support of their highly successful sophomore CD “St. Judas Day Parade” released in July 2010. The singles “Dig”, “Live Forever”, and “You’re So Fake” have received major airplay through out the Midwest U.S. on active rock and college radio stations. CORE’s debut album “We All Fall Down” earned the band rave reviews from TAXI & cdreview.com, citing the songs “Eisoptrophobia”, “Confession”, and “Calling John Coffey” as favorites.
Watch for great things to come from CORE in the near future!!!

NEW BEYOND THRESHOLD “WHO WE ARE” REVIEW FROM GOTHESTRO RADIO (TURKEY VULTURE RECORDS)

Hailed as a hard rock band, Beyond Threshold are selling themselves incrdibly short. Hard rock conjures up images of aging “classic rockers” doing dodgy Sabbath covers – this is pure balls to the wall melodic metal.
‘Who We Are’ has a raw edge to as a whole and you can tell the band have been touring with some the biggest names out there. Tracks like ‘Never Again’, ‘First Blood’ & ‘Ever-Changing’ have instant appeal as they have the anthemic quality and are impossible not to headbang to.
The standout song on the album for me was ‘Downside’, a slightly darker and sombre feeling with an intense vocal. The track shows the bands ability to play with tempo and melody.
Think Rage Against the Machine, Soil, Hatebreed but with an awesome new twist.

Behind The Scenes: CD Review: Broken-Darkness Falls(2012)

CD Review: Broken-Darkness Falls(2012)
I have been given the pleasure of reviewing albums now for Turkey Vulture Records
Hailing from the N.W. Suburbs of Chicago & Belvidere, IL and consisting of four members. BROKEN's hard hitting sound is a hybrid mix of modern metal and hard rock twists blended seamlessly with old school roots from where metal and thrash began. This unique mix of sounds, catchy melodies, musical hooks, and strong vocals creates a thick sound that is truly their own. BROKEN signed with Turkey Vulture Records in May of 2011 and released a new full length cd titled "DARKNESS FALLS" on January 10, 2012.
This is an raw sounding, impressive band with some good riffs and tempo for a new band they sound quite good.
But as we know a band that is considered new has always been around for a few years that's how they get signed.
I like their sound as they sound like they were recorded in someone's garage on allot of the tracks and that is what Metallica sounded like when they first started as well. There is just some rawness about this record that allot of studios frown upon and try to clean it up when the tracks are layed, but not here. That has made me happy.
Some good sounds all around.
I thank you for reading this

THE OFFICIAL SPECTOR FAN PAGE AND GUIDE TO ALL THINGS SPECTOR

MOBILE DEATH CAMP
Clear and Present Anger
Boe Skadeland’s vintage Spectors drive a growly pulse-pounding low-end on this death metal rage-fest.  Deep, clear and unmistakably vintage Spector, Boe’s Kramer NS-2A and SSD Era NS-94 models manage his articulate and growly low-end sound with headroom to spare.  Boe shows why there’s no school like the old school and has earned my gratitude for proving that these older vintage models are still a force to be reckoned with.  Consider yourself learned.
BASSIST: BOE SKADELAND
BASSES: NS-2A & NS-94
BASS TONE: Excellent Vintage Spector Tone!

MOBILE DEATHCAMP KILLS IT LIVE | NEW MUSIC MONKEY

Before a small but enthusiastic crowd,Toledo,Ohio’s Mobile DeathCamp brought along its Heavy Metal refresher course and schooled all present. Made up of  Dave Martin on Drums, Boe Skadeland on bass, and fronted by Todd Evans on guitar and vocals, the band unleashed it’s own magnificent version of speed and thrash metal with deft and surprising musical virtuosity.
The 75 minute set leaned heavily on the bands second and most recent release, Clear and Present Anger. Mobile DeathCamp’s super-tight musical show stayed focused and relentless, delivering a brutal and uncompromising set of high octane double bass thrash, the likes of which hasn’t been done properly in years. “Sesquac,” “Cover Judge” and “Human Popsicles” were all highlights in a show filled with solid and memorable performances.
Melbourne,Florida’s Prophecy Z14 was the only opening act on the bill I caught. They were a more than capable metal act, with considerable promise. Songs like “Pillar of Salt” and “Torn from the Flies” are indicative of where this band should be headed. Their secret weapon is phenomenal Bassist, Oz, whose presence proves to be a game changer, to help the band stand apart from other Metal acts of the same ilk.
Judging by the number of Mobile Deathcamp shirts recently being sported in and around the vicinity of the venue, a good time was had by all and like any artist worth their salt, Mobile DeathCamp left the audience wanting more.

MOBILE DEATHCAMP: CLEAR AND PRESENT ANGER - SAN FRANCISCO METAL MUSIC | EXAMINER.COM

11226_cd
The sophomore album from Mobile Deathcamp continues where their first one, Black Swamp Rising, left off. Old dogs don’t learn new tricks, but why should you when your old tricks are already great. Musically the band is still heavily set on speed metal but the sound of the new album definitely sets it apart from the older. The production value of the album is much higher and finally the band can show off their considerable talent.
The music shares qualities with the likes of Napalm Death and old Death Angel albums. The songs are short and to the point. There are no fancy preludes or overdone intros. The music is relentless guitar and bass grind with few death like stops peppered into them. There are two songs that break the pace, Emerald, which is closer to a metal anthem and doesn’t quite fit in. The other one is Uhyusti which is more deliberate tangent into a indian chant.
With more than ten bands between them makes Mobile Deathcamp surely doesn’t lack experience in performing or recording. The new drummer, Dave Martin, adds to the mix and fits in like fist in your face with Todd Evans on guitar and Boe Skadeland on bass.

MARQUETTE SIGNS TO TURKEY VULTURE RECORDS

In a town where the music scene is long considered dead, hails a band from Poplar Grove, Illinois known only as MARQUETTE. The band has recently signed with Turkey Vulture Records and has just finished tracking their debut E.P. at T.V.R. STUDIOS with producer Jason Z. The band combines a unique sound and blend of Post Hardcore & Melodic Tones shaping this band into a force that is truly unique. Marquette have been creating this new style of music and genera known as :applecore: since 2007. Music is the band’s passion and the mission is to move those listening whether it’s in the pit, on stage, in your car, or in your home.
Marquette sights influences like Escape the Fate, Asking Alexandria, Avenged Sevenfold, Bullet For My Valentine, Three Days Grace, & Chiodos. The band’s sound is powerful and pulls you in by every note being played and their story-telling lyrics will occupy your thoughts once you are exposed.
Making music that the band loves and that everyone can get into is Marquette’s specialty, giving the fans and the industry a nice little taste of what they’ve been missing out on.

Beyond Threshold and Hatebreed: Live Show Review

Beyond Threshold and Hatebreed - December 15, 2011 - Majestic Theater Madison, WI (Turkey Vulture Records)
I made a last minute decision to go see Hatebreed at the Majestic Theater in Madison, WI on Thursday, December 15, 2011. Of course I knew I wouldn’t be disappointed, since I’ve never been disappointed at a Hatebreed show. I don’t remember seeing the opening band, Beyond Threshold, before but once they came on it was a familiar look and sound. I quickly found out that they are a great opener.
Beyond Threshold was formed in 2006 and is under the Turkey Vulture Records label. They are from Rockford, IL which seems to be a hotbed of great bands lately. Vocalist Erik Virgin has a great voice that could have made him millions working as a demon voice-over in movies, but is put to excellent use in this metal band. He had pretty good stage presence; although I was a little worried he was going to wear holes in the stage pacing back and forth. He spent a lot of time interacting with the crowd, including going onto the floor between the stage and barriers.
The backup vocals from one of the guitarists and the bassists fit in perfectly. Unfortunately, while the Majestic is a beautiful location it was not original designed for metal shows, so the sound wasn’t perfect and the drums and bass were drowned out a lot. Even so, it was a great show that got the crowd moving and ready for Hatebreed. I really enjoyed the show they all put on and their sound and I will definitely be tracking them down more often. They have their first album, “Revolution,” out already and another is expected to be released in 2012. Check them out at their Facebook page.
I won’t waste my time actually reviewing Hatebreed. Anyone who has ever seen them live knows what to expect and anyone who hasn’t seen them live should put it on their bucket list. Strong vocals, great guitars and bass, and heavy double-bass drums make Hatebreed one of the best metal bands around. When Jamey Jasta comes on stage, you don’t expect the huge voice from him. In this show, they made it a very metal Christmas with decorations on all of their gear and the drum kit. The juxtaposition of a hardcore metal band and Christmas lights, stockings and a Christmas tree made the show that much better. Check out the video below of them performing Last Breath live at this show.
